BEAUMONT HAMEL VIEW
Bed & Breakfast
AUCHONVILLERS
An old French farmhouse on the Somme ’route of rememberance’ run by an ex-military biker and his wife.
There are awesome unobstructed views of the field of battle of the First World War Somme offensives, which includes the famous Newfoundland Park Hawthorne Ridge and crater, Redan Ridge, Sunken Road and the Thiepval memorial to the missing, plus there are 21 military cemeteries in the immediate area.
Dave has guided on the battlefields for 20 years and has an in depth knowledge of the area.
The roads are excellent to ride and a full day of riding and military history on the Somme is brilliant. As well as offering organised tours on motorbikes, we do walking tours and off road Army Landrover tours. A mixture of all three is most groups preference. We are happy to organise a tour following an itinerary of your choice on request and offer pre-visit research of a soldiers grave or field of battle. With many examples of WW1 equipment and explanations of how they were used helps the visitor to appreciate what the WW1 soldiers did.We also do detailled tours of soldiers ’Shot at Dawn’ and those who won VCs.
