The barns are ideally situated in a countryside setting in the golden triangle between the historic ’Cité Médiévale’ of Gourdon, medieval Sarlat and the pilgrim site of Rocamadour . We sleep from 2 to 18 in 2 converted barns with 4 bedrooms in each. Pets are welcome. We are close to the Dordogne river where you can experience all kinds of activities from just relaxing on the river beach to hiring canoes to lazily paddle down river stopping off for a picnic lunch or a drink at one of the many café bars or take a trip on a historic Gabbare at Beynac. If pre- history is your thing this area has world renowned caves to visit with world heritage status cave paintings to view. Indeed one of these is just 5 minutes up the road. You can visit the weekly local markets where all manner of fresh produce is for sale- ideal for the foodies with the local specialities available. Golfing is available within a short drive and likewise there are many fishing lakes in easy reach stocked with specimen Carp, Catfish and many other varieties. The children will love it here as there are so many attractions for them. There is a steam tourist train at Martel and flying demonstrations with the Eagles near Rocamadour and nearby you can also feed the apes. At Gramat the zoo is one of the largest in France with over 1000animals including endangered species. Another great attraction is Insectorama where you can see many strange and different creepy crawlies – the kids will love it. There are also adventure playgrounds and the Aquaparc at Quercyland. As you would expect many superb chateaux are open to visit along with many different kinds of gardens. If you are adventurous then how about a walking trail through the tree tops at one of the local “airparc”, perhaps with ziplining to follow or perhaps a ride in a hot air balloon or hang gliding in tandem. We have numerous walking and cycling routes close by and bike hire and equipment for all ages and styles can be rented and be here for when you arrive – just let us know & we will arrange it for you. Domme is a short drive away and is classified as one of the best bastide villages in France. The views from here are fantastic and the kids will love the tourist train ride around the streets. There are many individual shops and artisans selling locally made articles and a great choice of restaurants for that lazy lunch or dinner. From May to October is festival & Fete season where something is happening in the local villages be it music gigs, local fairs, vide greniers (car boot sales) or Petanque competions. We have details of all these and many other sites and attractions available for you to look at and decide on visiting in the information packs in the barns. In short there are numerous things to see and do for all ages and interests within easy reach of the barn so why not get your week/s booked now? and look forward to enjoying a memorable holiday.
