Residents of Leicester City have a new E-bike share scheme made available to them by Santander Cycles Leicester, they are hoping to have up-to 500 electric bikes for hire all across the city centre.
A successful bid from Leicester City Council for the Department for Transport’s Transforming Cities fund together with sponsorship from Santander UK, investment from Ride On and delivery partner Enzen Global will generate £600,000 for the scheme.
A base of volunteer key workers have taken part in a trial in order to test the system and now the E-bike scheme is available to any Leicester City resident.
Initially there will be a discount for anyone wishing to take part in the scheme which will be available for a limited time. You will need to register online and purchase a plan, once active you then use your Smartphone to unlock a participating electric bike and simply start riding.
Electric Bike hire rates will start at 60p for the first 30 minutes and day passes will also be available.
